Reitan Retail is a leading retail company in the Nordics and Baltics, covering grocery, convenience, and mobility across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania.

With 39,000 employees and 3,800 stores, they sought a refreshed visual identity and website, which TRY Dig was brought in to develop.

 

Utfordring

 

Reitan Retail includes diverse business areas like Reitan Convenience, Uno-X Mobility, REMA 1000 Norway, and REMA 1000 Denmark.

The new identity needed to capture this variety while aligning with their core values: closeness, simplicity, and responsibility. With a tight two-month deadline, there was significant work to accomplish in a short timeframe.

The new visual identity draws on the diversity within Reitan Retail's brands, creating a cohesive yet flexible style.

The color palette, image style, and typography were chosen to represent key values like accessibility, joy, and simplicity. The website design uses a clean grid layout to emphasize user-friendliness and readability.

Visual identity

The updated visual identity for Reitan Retail centers around the company’s four key sustainability commitments: health, environment, people, and the value chain. Designed to ensure a cohesive expression across all communication, the identity reflects Reitan Retail’s core values and brand diversity.

The color palette, inspired by the variety of Reitan Retail's brands, is the most distinctive element of the new identity, creating a vibrant, unified visual language.

The image style aligns with this palette, capturing the essence of everyday life, joy, human connection, and diversity, all crucial aspects of the company’s brand. Typography is kept simple and friendly, reinforcing Reitan Retail’s commitment to accessibility and ease.

To maintain consistency, a detailed photography brief was developed, guiding the visual approach to reflect the brand’s accessible, friendly, and down-to-earth ethos. This consistent visual style embodies Reitan Retail’s mission of making people’s lives simpler and better.
