Since 2015, Tunco has been serving Asian-inspired noodle dishes to discerning food lovers in Oslo. For the founders, it has always been a key principle that the food should be sustainable, made with quality ingredients, and created with integrity. Tunco offers fine cuisine quality at street food prices. We developed the design concept Smaksreisen – Trippy Cuisine.

Challenge

The restaurants had built a conscious and engaged fan base, but they faced challenges in expanding their market. They had an anonymous identity that neither resonated with the food nor captured the attention of passersby or new audiences.

When the pandemic hit, and much of the restaurant industry closed, Tunco seized the opportunity to redesign its identity, website, premises, and develop new recipes.

The identity needed to have a wow factor and serve as a translation of Tunco's unique flavor universe. Sustainability and ethics are naturally integral to Tunco, and they wanted to clearly distinguish themselves from other healthy and sustainable restaurant concepts.

 

Solution

We developed the Smaksreisen – Trippy Cuisine concept. The identity plays on the connection between food and sensory experiences and translates how a meal or new flavors can create experiences or take you on a journey.

The distinctive illustrations are interpretations of ingredients and flavor combinations. The color palette and photography style were created to evoke Asia, without being tied to a specific destination or origin.
