In 2018, Hafslund and E-CO merged, marking a shift in both role and strategy.

Challenge

Moving from a B2C electricity provider to a B2B leader in clean energy production, Hafslund Eco embraced a dual mission: to be both an industrial pioneer in renewable hydropower and an innovation driver for the cities of tomorrow.

With a history dating back to 1892, Hafslund Eco has been instrumental in Norway’s energy evolution—from building the first hydropower plants to powering the fully electric society envisioned today.

 

 

 

Solution

The new identity needed to reflect this transformation, uniting the organization under a shared vision and celebrating the company’s dual heritage of tradition and innovation.

The identity had to be timeless, distinct, and completely new, with no visual elements carried over from the original brands.

It was designed to encapsulate Hafslund Eco’s themes: history and future, industry and innovation, nature and urbanity, the tangible and the conceptual.

Concept: "New Horizons"

The concept of "New Horizons" bridges the company’s commitment to both Norwegian nature and its forward-looking mission. The logo symbol captures this duality, representing a reflection and a contrast between elements.

It was designed to be adaptable across physical, print, and digital formats, with animation potential that adds a dynamic quality.

This 3D graphic element, based on the logo, is in constant motion, suggesting Hafslund Eco’s shaping of the Norwegian landscape through engineering and monumental projects, as well as evoking water, energy, mobility, and architecture.

The color palette draws from the horizon, using cool tones inspired by glaciers, mountains, water, and sky, complemented by warm hues inspired by sunrise—a symbol of new beginnings and the future. Together, this visual identity aligns
Hafslund Eco’s legacy with its commitment to pioneering the sustainable societies of tomorrow.
