"Mr. Good? The Mystery of Eirik Jensen" is Netflix’s first Nordic documentary series.
It focuses on Norwegian police officer Eirik Jensen, accused of drug smuggling and corruption, and explores whether he operated within or outside the law alongside his informant, hash smuggler Gjermund Cappelen.
The series raises questions about guilt and truth, placing Jensen’s story in the broader context of crime history and informant culture, all brought to life by a compelling cast of characters.
The project involved designing a cohesive visual identity and graphic elements to enhance storytelling and clarify critical information.
Deliverables included the logo, title sequence, templates for supers and markers, intro and end credits, timelines, networks, visualized text messages, audio logs, maps, archive graphics, and an epilogue.
The central visual concept centers on the theme of contrasts, reflecting the conflicting narratives of Jensen and Cappelen.
The two characters stand on opposing sides of the law, each presenting a different version of events.
This duality is expressed through the use of two primary colors, blue and red, inspired by police sirens.
Where these colors overlap, a purple tone emerges, symbolizing the gray areas and blurred boundaries between truth and lies.
The visual design leverages this concept of overlapping to underscore the series' inherent ambiguity.
This is evident in the representation of SMS exchanges, which use layered compositions and glitch effects to evoke unease and suspicion.
The distinctive color palette breaks from typical true crime aesthetics, offering a unique visual style that complements the series’ cinematography.
