In 2022, MobilePay and Vipps, two of the leading mobile payment solutions in the Nordic region, merged to create a single Nordic wallet.
Together, they have more than 11 million users, with nearly all transactions between individuals in Denmark, Norway, and Finland taking place through their services.
While the companies retained their strong individual brands in their respective markets, the biggest challenge was for the employees, as they now work within the newly merged company: Vipps MobilePay.
The task was to create a unified visual identity for the new company while maintaining the strong brand recognition of both Vipps and MobilePay.
The solution was to refine the most distinctive brand elements from both companies, which included MobilePay's angular design and the round shape from Vipps' visual language.
Additionally, their primary colors were preserved. These elements were brought together under the concept of "building blocks," symbolizing the collaboration and synergy between the two companies as they built something new together.
A layout and graphics system was developed, along with clear co-branding guidelines, ensuring a cohesive identity. The playful and approachable personality of both brands was carried over and enhanced through motion principles.
The design was kept simple yet full of character, with a touch of humor to underline the company’s vision of "Making life very, very easy."
The new visual identity for Vipps MobilePay combines the best of both brands, helping unite employees within the company and providing a clear, cohesive brand presence in the market.
