What is Sanity?

Sanity was originally founded in Norway but has expanded its operations and sales internationally in recent years. It is a company that offers headless CMS technology.

Sanity's CMS has gained significant popularity as an alternative to more traditional CMSs, largely due to its exceptional flexibility in building websites.

As a front-end agnostic tool, content is delivered via APIs, which allows developers to use Sanity with any front-end technology, be it React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, or static page generators like Gatsby or Next.js.

A tool developers love

Developers have warmly embraced Sanity as a technology for several key reasons. Here are some of the most important:

  • True real-time collaboration: Sanity Studio enables multiple users to edit the same document simultaneously without conflict, similar to how Google Docs works.

  • Structured content: Sanity stores content as structured data, typically through JSON, allowing content to be reused across different platforms and interfaces without needing to customize it each time.

  • Flexibility and adaptability: With Sanity, developers can model their content exactly the way they want using a custom schema. This means developers can define their own content types, relationships, validation rules, and more.

  • Scalability: By using Sanity, you gain access to their cloud-based infrastructure that can scale with your project needs, reducing the need for server management.

  • Version history and restoration: Sanity Studio includes version history out-of-the-box, making it possible to see changes over time and roll back to previous versions of content if necessary.

  • API-first approach: With its headless setup, Sanity focuses on providing a robust content management API that doesn't tie developers to a specific technology stack or delivery format. robust content management API that doesn't tie developers to a specific technology stack or delivery format.

2. True real-time collaboration: Sanity Studio supports simultaneous document editing, which is ideal for teams collaborating on content. Therefore, you can work with colleagues on the same content at the same time.
